CREATIVE EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

Creative Education is designed to empower the next generation of artists. We work in collaboration with students and teachers to provide insight and resources to support your learning, share our experience and build an understanding of powerful physical and visual storytelling.

Creative Education is a year-round programme to support students and teachers from GCSE to postgraduate level.

CREATIVE EDUCATION GUIDE

Workshops – Ensemble Devising is our popular workshop exploring how vibrant creative play can generate powerful devised storytelling.

Residencies – An intensive deep-dive into devising work as a professional company.

Talks – An opportunity to connect with our professional team, ask questions and gain insight into life as a professional artist.

Training – find out more about our communal gatherings, parties and investigations into contemporary living.

WORKSHOPS: ENSEMBLE DEVISING

Ensemble Devising encourages participants to explore, create and play as they are led through a series of exercises which empower devising as part of an ensemble. You will work to create new material through our vibrant devising process and learn more about how we devise with professional artists.

The workshop provides students and teachers with practical resources to bring devising into their work, offering a professional insight and method for devising and ensemble creation of power physical and visual storytelling.

Ensemble Devising is led by Artistic Director, Joseph Lynch.

Ensemble Devising workshop is available throughout the academic year:

2 hours: £250

4 hours: £450

Full Day: £600

RESIDENCIES

Residencies are a space for experimenting, risk-taking and exploring. Participants and Babel’s facilitators work as a professional company, collaborating over an intensive period to devise self-generated ensemble material.

Residencies work towards a sharing of new work created by the ensemble which explores Babel’s powerful physical and visual storytelling method.

Residencies are led by Babel’s Artistic Director, Joseph Lynch and one of our associate artists.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

Residencies are available throughout the academic year and we will work with you to design a bespoke residency which supports your academic requirements.

Residencies are usually 3-5+ days.

Suitable for: Residencies are suitable for students aged 15+.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

We have so much more to offer in Creative Education: from talks to students to teacher training sessions, we facilitate it all.

Our team are experienced at facilitating sessions which empower both students and teachers from GCSE, A-Level, Scottish National 5 and Higher: to undergraduate and postgraduate study.

From delivering talks about artistic leadership to self-employment; to delivering empowering physical theatre workshops at national teacher conferences.

Creative Education FAQs

  • You can book a workshop for any time during the academic year.

    Please note that it is best to book a workshop at least 45 days in advance of your preferred date.

    For residencies, we recommend booking as far in advance as possible.

  • Yes, if you are booking a full day workshop, we can facilitate 2 x half day workshops with 2 groups.

  • Yes, we share our workshop plan and exercises with you so that you can apply them in your classroom or studio.

  • We recommend no fewer than 8 participants or no more than 22 participants to ensure everyone has the best experience and nobody gets injured. However, we are happy to discuss arrangements which work for you.

  • Yes, our team travel and work with students up and down the country.

    Please let us know where in the UK you are and your preferred dates, and we hope to see you there!

    We will provide you with a quote which includes workshop costs and travel expenses as required.

  • Of course, we have vast experience working with students and teachers across the UK developing bespoke programmes of engagement.
