Babel is looking for a Creative Marketing Assistant to join our small team and work closely with our Artistic Director to tell the story of our work, our artists and our growing community.

Babel is an artist-led theatre organisation specialising in artist development, training and the creation of new work.

Over the last few years, we've grown to become nationally recognised as one of the UK's leading artist training organisations. Artists travel from across the UK and internationally to train with us and the artists we programme, and our programmes bring together emerging and established artists with some of the most exciting practitioners working across theatre, dance and performance today.

We work with hundreds of artists every year and we want to get much better at capturing, sharing and celebrating what happens inside that work.

We're looking for someone creative, curious and excited by social media to help us do that.

This is a freelance role of approximately 2–4 hours per week, with the opportunity for the role and its responsibilities to grow over time.

THE ROLE

What you’ll do

Your main focus will initially be Babel's social media and digital content.

You'll work closely with the Artistic Director to:

  • Design and create regular social media content using Canva

  • Film and edit short-form video and Reels

  • Turn the activity happening across Babel into engaging and accessible content

  • Capture and communicate the stories of the hundreds of artists who take part in our work each year

  • Interview and create content with artists, facilitators and practitioners from across our programmes

  • Schedule and publish content across our social channels

  • Help identify gaps in our current content and visual identity

  • Explore ways our visual identity can grow to better communicate who we are and the impact of our work

  • Help us build a more consistent and meaningful relationship with our audiences online

You'll have opportunities to create content with and around the artists we produce, programme and collaborate with — from emerging theatre-makers to leading practitioners working across the industry.

Over time, we'd like the role to grow to include responsibility for our newsletter, website and wider digital marketing.
