Join us in 2026 for the fourth in our Babel Labs series - designed for dancers, physical theatre artists, and performance makers ready to expand their tools and deepen their practice.

Co-led by Associate Director Valerie Uchechukwu Ebuwa and Artistic Director Joseph Lynch, this Lab focuses on Choreography & Composition - creating for ensembles. This Lab is about working with bodies in space, yours and others, discovering how to shape movement for groups while honouring each person's artistry.

Drawing on contemporary dance and physical theatre techniques, this weekend will help you:

  • Create visceral, poetic, theatrical, and dynamic movement sequences that speak to audiences

  • Develop practical frameworks for composition, spatial awareness, and collaborative creation

  • Communicate your vision clearly and work with different bodies and abilities

  • Structure group work and build ensemble pieces that feel cohesive and alive

  • Make physical work that serves both the story and the performers - whether you call it choreography, staging, or something in between

Whether you're a dancer learning to guide ensembles or a theatre-maker crafting physical scenes, this Lab offers practical tools, creative inspiration, and space to take your practice somewhere new - alongside a supportive community of fellow artists.

Who is it for?

This Lab is for dancers, physical theatre artists, theatre-makers, choreographers, and anyone working at the meeting point of dance and theatre.

Whether you're just starting or refining your existing process, you'll leave with fresh tools, deeper clarity, and momentum for your next creative project.
